My girlfriend is Japanese and says this is a big problem. Twentysomethings spend their time online, playing games, live with the parents because everything is so expensive. Can't afford an apartment, much less a household and children. The birth rate is not at replacement levels. I believe there are incentives from the government to reproduce.
